ABIGAIL

My name is Abigail Tomas, I’m a junior and I am the Operations Officer for the Food Access Committee. My favorite thing about Chicas Verdes is being able to work with other people who I haven’t met before and being able to share ideas about workshops we could do for the community. What I like to do in nature is do some studying on new flowers that I come across and I like to journal about them, writing things as far as what color they are, what they are called, textures etc.

JOSE

My name is Jose Cox and I'm a senior at Manual Arts High School. I'm the Administration Officer for Food Access. My favorite part of Chicas Verdes is having the sublime experience of planting a variety of veggies and flowers, planting new seeds and watching them grow in our garden. My favorite thing to do in nature is to take care of our environment and promote a healthy lifestyle to the people in our community. One of my favorite foods is salad. I am passionate about pursuing higher education. In my leisure time, I like to read different books. I'm in love with skating and playing basketball.

KIM

My name is Kimberly and I am a high school senior and the Membership Officer for the Food Access Committee. The most enjoyable thing about Chicas Verdes is how it impacts our community while also offering ways for us to develop personally. I enjoy that we can share the many strategies we learn to fight different kinds of environmental problems with friends and families.

I enjoy being part of our school community garden. It gives me a regular weekly time to be outdoors, to work with people of lots of different ages and nationalities. It teaches me new skills and techniques of life. It is fun to be part of a group of students with different abilities and leadership skills, to see positive results in terms of seed and plant growth. And to harvest and feel part of the natural cycle of life. To see biodiversity at Chicas Verdes.

MALENA
